Chronology of cameras Agfa
Agfa was one of the largest manufacturers of 110 and 126 cameras along with Kodak. Within the German brand, cameras using the 126 cartridge are called Iso-Pak and Agfamatic.
The Agfamatic replaced the Iso-Pak starting in 1972. They are easy-to-use cameras made of plastic.
The classification of Agfamatic 126 cameras is quite simple:
before 1972 | 1972 - 78 | 1978 - c. 1981 | Flash | Shutter release | Misc.
Agfamatic 126 | Flashcube
Autostar X-126 | Magicube | Replace Agfamatic 126 when Magicube came
Agfamatic 50 | Magicube | |||||
Agfamatic 55 C | Magicube | Replace Agfamatic 50, without technical change
Agfamatic 100 Sensor | Magicube | Sensor1
Agfamatic 108 Sensor | FlipFlash | Sensor
Agfamatic 200 Sensor | Magicube | Sensor
Agfamatic 208 Sensor | Flipflash | Sensor
Agfamatic 300 Sensor | Magicube | Sensor |
There was a change in the aesthetic design in 1978 (approx.), accompanied by a model number change. The front face became uniform with rounded edges, and the viewfinder was protected by a raised border. This change coincided with a shift from Magicube to Flip Flash. The 300 Sensor did not have a replacement during this change, as Agfa likely believed that there was no market for an improved 126 camera.
1The Sensor is easily recognizable by its orange color. The shutter release is gradual and smooth, limiting blur caused by movement.
At first glance, this camera is similar to the Autostar X-126, but when you open it, you'll find a slot for a PX825 battery. The Autostar X-126 was meant to be used with a Magicube, while the Agfamatic 126 only uses flashcubes (suggesting it is older) that require a battery for their ignition.
